Growth areas

The United Nations Population Division recently released World Population Prospects 2022, which includes yearly population projections to 2100. The probabilistic projections are based on a hierarchical Bayesian model.

The solid line in the figure above shows historical world population from 1949-2021 and the posterior median population projection from 2022-2100. The shaded regions illustrate the posterior 80% and 95% credible intervals for population projections from 2022-2100.
